Mankind traditionally relied on Green Fields (Mother Earth) that nourished him with natural resources, from agricultural products (above the ground) to mineral products (under the ground) from time immemorial. A gatherer and a hunter constantly on the move in search of food, mankind gradually produced tools that helped him to grow what he needed, which enabled him to settle down to a sedentary life of subsistent farming. Technological breakthroughs the course of history climaxed with the so-called “Industrial Revolution” of the 19th Century – regarded as the foundation of “modern technology” – which laid the foundation for rapid transformation of the world economy.
